What is behind the picture?
Of course, the answer is camera.

This is a story of how does photography become my interest.

My first camera: HP C200

I got my first camera the week before I came to the United States. It is the the first generation digital camera which carries basic function only. Although it is very simple and it does not have a good quality in today sense, I develop most of the fundamental photography skill with it.

HP C200

I did not have any experience on using film camera before. The reason why I got a digital camera because I could save the expense on film and photo. In the beginning of my life in the US, everything seemed new to me. Therefore, I liked to carry it with me wherever I go.

The picture on the left was the first picture I took in the US. It was taken in Saratoga Spring of New York. I was amazed by the beauty of the sky. Since then, capturing the color variance of the natural world has become my favorite thing.

My second camera: HP 912

HP 912

I got my second camera two years after I got my first camera. This is my first camera with manual functions. It is my favorite one because the feeling of holding it is excellent. It gives me a lot of idea how to take a good shot. (Yes! Sometimes if you hold something good, you will get a lot of idea how to do things good.)

This camera arrived my home two days before I went to Disney World. Since I did not have enough time to practice, most of the pictures I took in Disney were not good. Therefore, I have a strong reason to go there again. :-)

My third camera: Canon S200

This camera arrives my home with his brother, HP 912. It is a small and powerful camera. It is very sensitive to color variance which his brother can't compare to it. For example, if I want to capture the leaves variationof the trees in the Fall, I must use it. However, its work is not as clear as its brother's. It would be good if they can crossover, with low cost of course!

Nikon D200

My uncle's camera: Nikon D100

Wow! What an amazing camera! In fact, I got a chance to use it while I was traveling with my uncle in New England in the summer of 2005. I took a lot a lot a lot of great pictures using it. Guess what, the feeling was so fantastic while I was shooting the whales. I felt holding a long range cannon (with 300mm lens). The sound of the continuous shots are so nice. What a wonderful experience!

My forth camera: Canon SD400

This camera basically replaces the S200. In fact, I do not use this camera often to take pictures. I usually use it to take video.

Canon Rebel XT

My first SLR camera: Canon Rebel XT(or 350D)

Finally, I got my first SLR camera!!!! While I was shopping for it, I was indifferent between the Nikon D50 and this camera. Finally, my wife and I decide to bring it home because both of us are fans of Canon...

My sixth camera: Tower Folding camera

This camera is at least half a century old. I bought this in a flea market. I think this camera still works great. Unfortunately, it is hard to get the right size film for it.

By the way, Tower indicates the Sears Tower at Chicago.
